I had opportunity to catch up with a couple of former colleagues of sorts recently and it was decided we would catch up at Boulevarde St Michel at 187 George St.
This place doesn’t set out to do much more than provide a good little bolthole for a quick lunch and drink (it is licensed) in George St, an objective it achieves. The lunch options are not the most exciting – ham, cheese and pineapple open sandwich with chips, etc – but they are done well, served promptly and priced reasonably.
What I found most interesting is the choice of places to sit – outside if you want to be seen, upstairs if you want to be the one seeing, on the main floor if, in some perverted way, you want to look up at the people looking down, or in the basement.
I found it to be a reasonable establishment, devoid of surprises but sometimes that is what you need.
See what the Cazm had to say at Brisbane Hot or Not.

ps. you know the thing about an open sandwich is that it is kind of like your almost well-to-do uncle, slightly better but still one of us. I think I may have finished exploring the sandwiches of Brisbane, be they open, toasted, grilled, club, or gourmet. I put them in the same basket as Korean food (that little one under your desk that is lined with a plastic bag and gets emptied occasionally)
